Can I move my existing website to a new provider?
The short answer
Yes. In most cases the cleanest route is to rebuild the site on the new provider's platform, keeping the content and pages worth keeping, then point your domain across. Done properly there's no downtime and no loss of search rankings.
What you need to have in hand
Access to your domain registrar (or the ability to request a transfer), your text and photos, and owner access to your Google Business Profile. That's genuinely it.
You don't need your old provider's cooperation for the build — only for releasing the domain, if they hold it.
Protecting your rankings
Keep the same page addresses where you can, and redirect the ones that change. Keep the page titles and the wording that already brings you traffic. Rewriting everything at once is what causes drops.
Only switch the domain over once the new site has been checked page by page.
